Comment on Whirlpool Duet WFW94HEXW 27...

Whirlpool is running a blatant bait and switch fraud and I will never buy another Whirlpool or Maytag product again.

I bought a high end washer with the expectation that more money might mean more reliability. Not true. To repair the main computer board I need to shell out $400.00. This set is 4 years old. I am going back to Maytag. I won't buy a Whirlpool anything again.

I recommend this machine to any and all who would like to spend endless amounts of time on customer service calls, awaiting service repairmen, and having a new machine delivered bi-weekly. If this is your thing then by all means go ahead and purchase this POS!

My biggest gripe with this machine which I have owned only a month now, is the wash cycle times. I seem to have no control over them regardless of which one I pick. The washer has a "sensor" that adds additional time to each wash based on weight and soil. I think a standard 59 minute cycle should be plenty for average loads of clothes, sheet and towels but it continuously bumps up the time and I have no control over making the cycle shorter once it starts. I know front loaders have longer cycles...I was prepared for that to make up for shorter drying times, which I thought would be a real time saver being that I was always waiting on my dryer. Well it seems to be a tradeoff because now I am always waiting on my washer. It took me three hours last Saturday to wash two loads, one a load of rugs (four small and one medium sized) that it bumped up to an hour and 45 minutes (tell me how that is energy efficient?) and I hate washing anything for that long. Next, I washed towels and went with the standard 59 minute cycle and it "sensed" I needed an hour and 15 minutes for those. I am thinking about either going back to a conventional top loader and buying a more efficient dryer or changing over to LG or Samsung. My daughter has an LG model (does not have the sanitizing feature on it) and she says her longest wash cycle is 53 minutes and it only washes for that amount of time, no "sensing" a longer wash time and adjusting accordingly. She really likes it. I am also starting to have an issue with the mysterious water on the floor the last few days and can't really determinue yet (waiting for hubby to diagnose it for me) where it is coming from. I am not pleased with this washer. Dryer is okay. Luckily for me, I did purchase the extended warrantly but nonetheless, Sears where I bought them offered me 90 days to trade them out on something I will hopefully be more content with. I'm taking them up on it.

We will not buy another Whirlpool, ever. Do yourself a favor and search the internet. Whirlpool frontloaders are falling a part everywhere. Lasted 3 years exactly and died. Cost as much to fix as replace.

  • James L. Zhang "Gadfly"

I am willing to give LG a try on the next washer purchase.
